Arbeite mit den Intelligenzen, dem Verstand, dem Herzen und dem Willen

Work with the intelligences, the mind, the heart, and the will.

“I work from my whole being, not just from what’s between my ears and my hands. I really try to bring a more comprehensive bodily experience into my work, my scribing. That’s one thing that inspires me,” Kelvy answers my question, “What inspires you?” Boom, I’m hooked! Even though I know Kelvy’s book and her “4 Levels of Scribing” model, when I see Kelvy explaining it, I suddenly forget all about my writing.

Knowledge of this model is very valuable for any graphic recorder or graphic facilitator.

“One more thing inspires me,” she continues, “is experimenting! I really enjoy playing with colors. I love mixing colors to combine inner impulses or instincts with outward expression. Last week I had a commission in Hamburg. Even before I arrived, I was trying to develop a new color palette for the meeting and wanted a specific blue-gray. I mixed it at home, ordered the inks, then mixed it all together on site and discovered that it looked like the water of the Port of Hamburg. We joked with the participants that it was ‘Hamburg blue.’”

But I don't want to give away too much about the live talk with Kelvy. Watch the video. It's full of inspiration for your work.

Here you can find Kelvy's photos of using the markers with whiteboard ink.

The marker is great, but if you fill it with whiteboard ink instead of the 'normal' RefillOne ink , you'll end up with a marker that's not meant for this purpose. That's because the ink is much thinner and not actually designed for this marker. But there's no stopping the urge to experiment.

“That color was in my head!” says Kelvy.
