Kissen kann jeder – einfach mal ausprobieren.

Anyone can make a pillow – just try it out.

To determine whether a tool truly works well, we figured you should try it out. To get used to it, you should experiment with everything possible. And to do this, you start with a nice, simple task, which you then gradually make more complicated and complex to solve, step by step.

Nothing is simpler than a pillow.
And paper.
And a handful of felt-tip pens like our ArtMarkers.

Can we get started?

Here's the pillow.

Pillow0

A simple, feather-filled sofa cushion made of red corduroy. It stays still, it doesn't make any fuss, and we can sketch it calmly.

And the simplest decision in the drawing is a quick black outline, supplemented by the most important folds. Even with this reduction, a certain sense of space and depth should already be visible.

Pillow 1

Okay, that works.

On the other hand, light and shadow are also important. A rough hatching technique will certainly achieve that.

Pillow 2

That's nice too. What's missing is the surface texture. Corduroy has such beautiful stripes.

Let's see if they can be depicted as well.

Pillow 3

Of course they can, and the spatial effect emerges all by itself. And even the lighting becomes partially visible.

But what if we only have fully occupied areas available?
Difficult.
Perhaps we should add a shade of gray to at least have an intermediate level of brightness.

Pillow 4

Something like that. Yes.
And while we're at it, we might as well get some paint.

Pillow 5

Perhaps a little flat, even though the shadow areas were exaggerated several times – that works quite well with the gray tones of the ArtMarkers. But red, well, remains red.
So we need another color. Ideally, one that mixes with red to create a (definitely colorful) gray. Let's see, maybe a light green?

Pillow 6

Better.
But it's still a bit flat. Let's assume the cushion had a colorful pattern. Then the depth could simply be represented by the fabric pattern.

Pillow 7

It looks good. But the theme (and the lighting) is off. It's still about a corduroy cushion.
So we combine the colors and methods of the previous drawings and – lo and behold:

Pillow 8

Well, one would just like to rest one's head, tired from drawing, on it.
If only it weren't for that heavy black outline… Do we really need it?

Pillow 9

Ah, yes. It looks cozy. So, feel free to lie down for a bit. You'll be all the more refreshed when you're standing at the flipchart later in the meeting and spontaneously need a symbol of friendly relaxation.

Pillow

Okay. Now it's your turn.

We are excited and look forward to your results.
