White on black: Current test results
Teilen
The new WhiteOnes are here. Markers that, as we say in our catalog, are excellent for drawing and writing (and with excellent visibility) on smooth black paper. But that's our catalog – He wants to sell and is advertising. Because the truth about our WhiteOnes is actually much more dramatic than what's in the catalog. This is shown in the merciless test report that we would like to present to you in this article. And that is… – oh, you know what? Just read it for yourself:
1. Introduction
This test aims to examine the suitability of the WhiteOne for use on and with various materials. In particular, its compatibility with black, waterproof markers (here: Neuland FineOne ) and pastel chalks* will be tested. Both are popular choices (and presumably used) by Neuland customers, which is why they are likely to be found alongside the WhiteOne in their toolboxes.
2. Experiment description
2.1. Experimental Setup
The substrate for these materials will be the black paper of the mynotePad , supplemented by plain white copy paper (Otto Office, 80 g/m²). A kitchen table will serve as the work surface. Since the duration of the experiment is uncertain, ample coffee and croissants will also be available.
2.2. Procedure of the experiment
As a first step, three (more precisely: four) sketches are made:

a) a drawing in white on white paper, with a few additions in black and color, accordingly

b) a predominantly black drawing on a black background, finally

c) two “half” drawings in black and white on black and white paper.
d) These drawings are then colored with pastel chalk, which is in turn smudged onto the motifs with a kitchen towel.
2.3. Objectives
In this way we hope to gain insights into a) opacity, b) smudge resistance and c) compatibility of WhiteOne with the other materials already mentioned above.
3. Result
Let's put it this way: the drawings aren't exactly great, which of course makes the experiment even more difficult. On the other hand, it should be quick (as under real conditions): the entire experiment was finished in about 15 minutes.
4. Conclusion
The tested marker offers more possibilities than expected, even under challenging conditions. In other words: The WhiteOne is an excellent marker and fun to use.
So much for this (not entirely serious) account of my experience.
Now you're invited to test the WhiteOne. And please let us know – especially if something isn't quite satisfactory. Your praise motivates us. Your criticism helps us to make things even better.
To make the experiment even more challenging, we did n't use the pastels available at Neuland. Instead, we specifically used Pelikan pastel chalks No. 470/12, which had been gathering dust at a neighboring junk shop for about 40 years.
