Hats off – uncharted territory of philosophy

Hats off to this fantastic refill system! This saying is actually ambiguous, because there's a very important step to remember when refilling...

Since 2020, we've been proud to say that all Neuland markers are 100% refillable and therefore automatically more sustainable. We call this our refill philosophy . But what do you actually need to know about refilling, and why do we do it this way and not another? With our blog series on the topic, you'll become a true refilling pro!

Why the hats off?

Neuland FineOne® , Neuland No.One®, and Neuland BigOne® markers have a compensation chamber behind the refill opening, which contains an air channel. Air is drawn through this channel, past the fiber tip and to the side. When ink is poured into this chamber, the air must escape, requiring the marker's cap to be removed. Failure to do so will result in undesirable overpressure inside the marker.

Rule number 1 is therefore: Hats off – always remove the cap before refilling!

Hub off before refilling
By the way: Here's how to easily open the cap of the BigOne without twisting the case.

And what comes next?

Don't worry, there aren't many rules to follow with our refill system. Nevertheless, we'll share a few more tips with you in our blog series. Next time, there will be a guided refill meditation . 😉

And if you don't want to wait that long, get all the refill knowledge now in our Markerpedia ! There you'll find everything you need to know about proper storage, how to change the nibs, and even the ink quantities for all Neuland markers.
