The art of co - a collaborative week in San Sebastian

At the end of June, we had the pleasure of supporting the "The Art of Collaboration" conference in San Sebastian. As an official equipment sponsor, we provided materials for the workshops and sessions and had our own conference booth on site. The conference title already hints at its theme: collaboration. We felt drawn to the "collaboration" aspect in many ways. For it is also reflected in "cooperation," "color," "contrast," and "communication." And all these qualities are found in the breadth of our new dialogue materials.

A respectful, participatory dialogue culture

True to our name, "Neuland" (New Territory), we love traveling the world. It was interesting to discover that many people in different places and parts of the world are clearly asking themselves very similar questions: "How can we best work together collectively – both in organizations and in society in general? How can we value the intelligence and knowledge of each individual as a valuable resource and use it in such a way that diversity and differences don't lead to conflict, but rather to creative, cooperative collaboration as an opportunity for innovation?"

The answer to this can probably only be explored and tested together. Many approaches already exist that promote a culture of appreciation and participation in dialogue. Learning maps such as "Open Space," "World Café," and "Appreciative Inquiry," which were of particular interest in Spain, provide an overview of these methods. The refillable markers and the rich color palette were also highly appreciated. Monika and Laila from the Neuland team explained the special features of Neuland products in multiple languages. Verena provided ample visuals and delighted several workshop leaders with her images.

Monika shares tips and tricks for refilling the Neuland Markers. Laila hangs up learning maps No. 1-10. No. 11, Dragon Dreaming, will follow soon.

Meeting with co-authors of the learning maps

The fact that the approaches, which mainly originated in the USA, are also spreading more and more in Europe pleased not only us, but also Rosa Zubizzareta, co-author of the learning map “Dynamic Facilitation”, who had also travelled to Spain for the conference.

The developer of "Dragon Dreaming," a participatory project planning and project management method, was very excited: John Croft is currently developing a learning map for Dragon Dreaming in cooperation with the communication consultants from Cologne. Whether in one-on-one conversations or in plenary sessions, John shares his vision in such an engaging and insightful way that we are all eagerly awaiting learning map number 11: Dragon Dreaming.
