A wishing tree for your neighborhood
Teilen
Would you like to have a tree where wishes grow? Then find one and get started right away! It's really easy and good for both the heart and the hands.
Some of you may have heard of a wishing tree. People usually hang their wishes on it, hoping they will come true.
How about a slight variation? Instead of wishing something nice for yourself, wish it for your neighbor. Actually, for everyone who passes by the wishing tree.
Let's go
Take some colorful cards, preferably in a particularly attractive shape. I chose the "Leaf" workshop cards. They look good, don't you think? 🙂
The best thing to do is grab a hole punch and make some holes in a spot of your choice, through which you can later thread a cord.

Write down a few good wishes for your neighbors – that's the first step! It's best to use a slightly thicker marker so the message is easy to read. I used the Neuland FineOne® Outliner with the round tip. The outliner is a good choice if you plan to add color, shading, or highlights later. That way, nothing will smudge.

Regarding the messages
Here you can let your creativity run wild. Whether it's good wishes like "I hope you dance in the kitchen today" or even small tasks like "I hope you make someone you love happy today"—anything goes when it comes to spreading joy. You can also add some beautiful, fitting symbols or icons on the back; that will make the message doubly lovely.
Grab a cord of your choice, thread it through the holes and tie it in a knot.

To make sure your neighbors understand the wishing tree idea, why not make a sign? A stand, like a chalkboard, would be ideal. But a simple piece of paper on the tree will do. I simply used two laminate boards, joined them together, and wrote on them with a Neuland ChalkOne® chalk marker (chisel tip 2-8 mm).

Then it's off to the wishing tree of your choice. Now you can decorate it – and that's really as wonderful as Christmas!

Place some blank, pre-punched cards, pre-cut strings, and markers near the tree so your neighbors can write down and hang up their wishes. This way, it gets things moving, and everyone can pick a few fresh good wishes every now and then. 🙂

By the way: If it rains, you can temporarily protect the wishes in a large screw-top jar. Place it against the tree or secure it and hang it up. And when the sun comes out again, you can decorate the wishing tree again… Is it Christmas already?!
I wish you and your neighbors lots of fun!

PS: Just a few minutes after the first wishes were hung, the first neighbor arrived, stopped her bicycle especially to admire the colorful sight. She also left a wish.
