In a city where the gap between "poor" and "rich" could hardly be greater, Mona spent three months visiting schools and organizations to show the people of Cape Town what visualization can do.
During her travels through the city, she organized open street sessions and trained in the circus for the AfricaBurn Festival. Mona met a wide variety of people, exchanged experiences, and visually documented their dreams. And these dreams are more similar than expected.
At the end of her time there, Mona leaves the city with mixed feelings. Despite the poverty and crime she witnessed, the people there didn't let it stop them from having fun, playing together, and dreaming of a better future. Now that her journey is drawing to a close, Mona says, "It was incredible to see how similar our dreams are, even though we come from such different backgrounds. We both wish for happy and safe communities where we can make our dreams a reality." And although she faced some challenges in Cape Town, it was a wonderful time, and no one can take those memories and impressions away from her.
As part of our " Drawn to help, help to draw " initiative, we supported Mona through material sponsorship and financial resources. Thanks also to Visual Facilitators and RAMmpire, who also sponsored this project.
